Data Sources

Tha Platform aggregates publicly available creator profile information from social media platforms. This data is obtained through licensed third-party data providers who collect information that creators have made publicly accessible on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

We do not scrape private accounts or access any information that is not already publicly visible on these platforms.

Purpose

Tha Platform is a South African influencer discovery platform that enables brands and agencies to find and connect with content creators. We process creator profile data to provide an accurate, searchable directory of creators across categories, languages, and audience demographics relevant to the South African market.

What We Collect

We collect and display the following publicly available information about content creators:

• Display name and username/handle
• Profile biography and description
• Follower and following counts
• Engagement metrics (average likes, comments, engagement rate)
• Content category and niche classification
• Profile image URL (as publicly displayed)
• Platform presence (which social platforms the creator is active on)

We do not collect private messages, login credentials, financial information, or any data from private or restricted accounts.

Retention Practices

Creator profile data is refreshed periodically to ensure accuracy. Our data providers supply updated information on a regular cycle, and we update our records accordingly.

• Profile data is refreshed approximately every 30 days
• Profiles that are no longer publicly available are flagged and removed within 60 days
• Upon a valid opt-out request, your data is removed within 7 business days
• Audit logs of data access are retained for 12 months for compliance purposes

Your Rights (POPIA)

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Right to access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Right to correction: You may request that we correct or update inaccurate information
• Right to deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information from our platform
• Right to object: You may object to the processing of your personal information for our purposes

How to Opt Out

If you are a content creator and would like your profile removed from Tha Platform, you can submit an opt-out request through our online form. We will process your request within 7 business days.
